Set the location before comparing the time

A prayer timetable is calculated for a place and a day. A correct-looking city name is only the first check: the date, time-zone offset, calculation method and Asr setting can all change the displayed result.

Set up a timetable

  1. Open the location selector and choose your city or request your current location.
  2. Check that the displayed location is where you intend to pray, especially when travelling.
  3. Select the day you need and review the calculation method and prayer settings.
  4. Compare the result with the timetable used by your local mosque.

What the calculation method changes

The app uses the Adhan calculation library. Its methods define parameters for prayer-time calculations, including dawn and twilight conventions. Methods such as Muslim World League and Umm al-Qura are not simply different names for the same settings.

Asr settings use different shadow-length conventions. If Fajr and Isha differ most from another timetable, compare the calculation method first. If Asr differs while the other times are similar, compare the Asr setting. Do not apply the same manual correction to every prayer without checking the cause.

Troubleshooting by the pattern of the difference

If most times are shifted by roughly an hour, first check the selected place, time zone and daylight-saving convention for that date. If the difference is only a few minutes, compare the calculation parameters and any mosque-specific adjustments. These are diagnostic clues rather than guarantees.

An iqama time is the congregation's scheduled start, which may be later than the beginning of the prayer window. Comparing iqama with an astronomical prayer start can make a correct calculation appear wrong. Use the mosque's own schedule for congregational attendance.

Location and precision limits

Browser location requests require permission and may use different location sources depending on your device. Approximate IP-based location can identify a nearby city rather than your actual position. If the detected place is wrong, choose a city manually.

At high latitudes, dawn and twilight conditions require particular attention to the convention used by your community. Terrain and local timetable practices may also affect the time you follow. The app does not promise a universal one- or two-minute match to every mosque timetable.
